We came down from the North indeed!
Just finished a very tiring weekend where I was out every day for the last 2 weeks for work and classes. We had a couple of friends coming down playing for us at the Esplanade over the weekend.
It was pretty cool. The
Tempered Mental guys came down to play the show and drove back right up after the show. Hardcore. Hope they didn't get another urine check on the way back. Heh. The last minute replacement
Evol was pretty good, playing very funk/ soul pop tunes.
Finally got to meet the
Lurks guys in person on Saturday. I thought their electronic stuff were more fun and better than the rock tunes.
Adlin and his boys (and girl) came down and did their thing. Without a doubt,
Matt also known as
Jessica was hilarious as usual. He placed his pink Barbie bag right in front of his fold-back monitor. Gotta love the guy for his taste. The guys caught a mid-night coach back to KL so it was a very rushed trip for them.
Sen Kiat and his
bitch/girlfriend/
tour manager/
roadie/
groupie Ching stayed another night as his other band
Superbar was slated to perform on Sunday. He's playing guitar for them as well. Singer
Chak was being over the top as usual.
Weiyuan got hand actions for one of their songs and got
Ching to back him up. Quite disturbing. I thought
Telebury played their best set ever. Great tunes and an amazing set.
Actually, I have always thought the difference between Malaysians and Singaporeans are very subtle. However, I reckon that Malaysians are warmer than Singaporeans in general. But it could be that since they are in Singapore, they are at our mercy and they need my help for directions! Hurhurhur...
Still, it was great hanging out with
Superbar after their show. Had a couple of drinks and we brought them to have frog legs' porridge at the hawker centre opposite the National Library. Their drummer
Dinesh thought it was alright. Yeah, it's nothing much. My only excuse is that I've not tried that stall before too. But at least, we have something they don't get in Kuala Lumpur. When
Adlin and
Kim are down on the 25th, I'd prolly take them to the one in Geylang. That's a better stall.
Well, I'd like to dedicate this ditty by Kuala Lumpur's
Panda Head Curry: 'Singapore Belongs To Malaysia' (right click to save as
here) to all my friends, whether they are Singaporean or Malaysian. Stay kewl and funkay always!!!
